Battle of Horseshoe Bend - fought between U.S. forces led by Andrew Jackson and Creek Indians on March 27, 1814, near present-day Alexander City on the Tallapoosa River in present-day Alabama. Jackson and his men almost wiped out the entire Indian force of 800 men. As a result, the Creeks were forced to give up 23 million acres of land in present-day Georgia and Alabama.
